Virginia Associate Area Coordinator

Waverly Massenburg, Jr is the Associate Virginia Area Coordinator and Chaplain of Allegheny East Conference Master Guide Ministry. My Pathfinder journey began as one of the original members of the Shiloh Goldenairs Pathfinder Club in Petersburg VA, under the leadership of my father Waverly Massenburg Sr. and late mother Gracie Massenburg. Leaving home at the age of fifteen I attended Pine Forge Academy in 1973.

Sensing the call of God upon my life while attending PFA, I graduated in 1976 and was led to pursue the ministry by way of laity instead educational. Becoming an ordained elder in 1977 in my home church (Shiloh SDA Church), I conducted week of prayers, organized youth church and music groups.

In 1984 I moved to Gaithersburg Maryland and worked as a Bible instructor for The Real Truth Crusade. In 1985 I became a charter member and interim Pastor of the Gaithersburg Company, known today as the New Life SDA Church. Our company became a part of the sisterhood of AEC churches in 1987.

Returning back home to Virginia permanently in 1996 I eventually became active again with the Goldenairs Pathfinder club as a Counselor and Deputy Director. I also served as Assistant Chaplain for AEPCA. In 2011, I achieved Master Guide, Pathfinder Leadership Award in 2014, and Pathfinder Counselor JumpStart and Pathfinder Staff Leader Certifications in 2017.

Realizing those called by Christ will be empowered by Him, for whomever God calls, Christ enables. Therefore, I give glory to God for His grace and like Paul “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry.” (1 Tim. 1:12)
